Facilities required new and/or updated signage to reflect corporate identity, wayfinding, and instructional/procedural information.

Solution

Brand Graphic Solutions (BGS) updated Geisinger’s facilities using high-quality products that were well suited to the purpose and environment of each installation. After consulting with Geisinger, BGS chose and installed branded products, including:

• Geisinger Danville conference room brand identity signage
  Fulfilling the client request to create a subtle, strong, corporate presence, BGS chose a brushed aluminum finish to complement other details in the space. For the standoffs, BGS used a textured finish on the lenses, creating a satiny, rather than high-gloss, finish.
• Building banners and teardrop flags in a Scranton location
  Patients, families, and visitors were finding it difficult to find the facility. To increase visibility and promote top-of-mind brand awareness, BGS selected 28” wide banners to draw traffic toward the building and into the parking area.
• Retractors
  Multiple hallways, doors, and turns can be confusing to people who are unfamiliar with a space. To make wayfinding as easy as possible, BGS used retractors with directional arrows to reassure people that they were in the right place.
• Elevator graphics
  Within the healthcare industry, it’s especially important to create a sense of comfort and welcome, as many people may experience anxiety because of the purpose of their visit. BGS positioned products to soften and humanize the space. For durability with stainless steel surfaces, BGS specially engineered products that were unique to the location.
• Badge reels
  Retractable badge reels are used constantly throughout the day. High-touch items like this have to be handled carefully to minimize contact with germs, bacteria, and viruses. To protect Geisinger’s staff, BGS coated the badge reels with a proprietary anti-microbial coating.

Evaluation

One major takeaway from this case study is that products need to be selected with their purpose, positioning, and permanence in mind. BGS consultants use their decades of experience to recommend well-suited, high quality products for interior and exterior use, as well as special working conditions, such as contact with water or use in cold temperatures.
